Fox News decided to make a list of the Top 10 Christmas movies and I immediately took issue with it. Firstly, the only true “movie” on the list is Tim Burton’s Nightmare before Christmas.  The rest are the animated specials we see on broadcast telelvision.  Secondly, their pick for #1 is the animated Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  Now, I love Chuck Jones and what he did for Bugs Bunny and the gang, so I agree that the Grinch should be on the list, but it shouldn’t be #1.  The #1 chocie should be A Charlie Brown Christmas.  Leaving the biblical element aside, the special’s statement on the commercialization of Christmas is as relelvant today as it was then.  When Santa is sitting side by side with witches and skeletons in October in many department stores, I think a case for the over-commercialization of Christmas can be made.

Continuing my thought from yesterday, I was wondering what the best type of internet service is best for streaming live music concerts.  I know that dial-up, which I’ve heard some people still use, is not the way to go, but after that, there are a lot of choices.  There’s DSL providers, cable internet, and satellite internet providers.  Does anyone know which type is best and a good provider?

I love to go see live music.  Whether it’s in a bar, a concert hall, or an outdoor festival, I love watching people make music live.  The problem is is that I can’t always get out of the house.  Sometimes, my favorite band is playing too far away from me, or somebody decides to charge too much for tickets.  I’ve seen some bands have gone to broadcasting their concerts over the internet, and I’m curious:  what do others think of the sound quality of these broadcasts?  I’m not sold yet, but I’d like to hear what others have to say.

I was thinking about this the other day: with the holiday season fast approaching, many people are scrambling to find the perfect gift for loved ones, friends, co-workers, etc.  And it seems like guys are harder to shop for.  For myself, I’m happy with a classic movie on DVD or a great jazz album, but some guys like something different, like mens jewelry.  so to all the guys out there, what’s you’re preferred Christmas gift?

I know this seems almost too obvious, but some people need to be told everything.  You feel like you have something worthwhile to say, so you get a blog.  You update constantly, but no one is listening.  What can you do to change that?  Well, one thing that will gain readers quicker is to choose topics that you are not only passionate about, but that also affect others.  Before you post something, ask yourself, “How many other people would have an opinion about this?”  Another point, don’t always use your blog as a soapbox.  Have fun, laugh, post a humorous story you read or experienced.  Use your blog to interact with the world instead of always criticizing it.
