Sharktopus

Today’s bit of Friday fun mystifies even me. This is a trailer for a “movie” and I’m not sure if this is a legitimate movie or someone is having fun with the trailer option in their movie making machine. A hybrid shark/octopus that can travel on land as well as swim? I don’t think there’s a hook big enough for me to hang that much disbelief.

BlogTV

Ok, after finding the talk radio site yesterday I decided to see if there was a video service for blogging as well. And lo and behold, I find blogtv.com. I haven’t explored this one too much, mostly because this seems a lot like what people are doing on YouTube. This is supposedly free, but there might be hidden fees.

Blog Talk Radio

This is taking blogs in a whole different direction. For those who want to test their radio hosting ability, there’s blogtalkradio.com. I just found out about it today, but it appears that you can subscribe for free and start talking about whatever you want to talk about. I have a feeling I’ll get some interesting ideas on what others are thinking.

Procrastination

There’s a joke that asking someone their opinion on procrastination should result in them giving you an answer later. How do you handle procrastination in anything? Take Daniel Scocco’s advice; tackle it in pieces. This is nothing really new. We got this lecture from our parents and many of us learned the panic that comes from realizing your 4 month science assignment is due after you get off the school bus.

If you want to conduct a survey of your blog readers but don’t have the time or programming knowledge to construct one, quibblo.com will construct one for you. They can create polls, quizzes and surveys for Blogger, WordPress and Xanga among others.

Culture and Comedy for Friday

This is a great lesson in not only classical music but also popular music. I went to college to study music so I know about Pachelbel, Mozart, Mahler and other more obscure composers of the past. This is a great bit of musical comedy from stand-up Rob Paravonian.

a complete blogging company

There’s many elements to a blog. There’s the layout, the design, the font color, style and size. Some companies will do one or the other, but there are companies that do it all. Squarespace is one of those companies, and from the looks of it, they handle some big name clients. If you have the money, these guys should be a decent option.

Social media phones

I was looking at cell phones earlier this week and noticed a trend toward multimedia and smart phones. That’s all well and good if you plan to surf the net or check your Twitter or Facebook accounts on the road, but if you don’t, you’re somewhat stuck with more phone than you need.

Facebook Fan pages

When it comes to social media like Twitter and Facebook, the fan pages are really starting to get weird. I have friends who became fans of sleeping. Someone actually took the time to create a page dedicated to sleeping, and people became fans of it. While that’s harmless, if a little silly, there are some people putting up fan pages of killers and criminals. That’s a little disturbing to me.

Staying Focused

You know what they say about education: it’s all repetition, repetition, repetition. So it goes not only in school but life in general as well. I’ve talked about how blogging is a process and how to achieve optimum results. Well, someone else has decided to offer their ideas on this same topic. There is a lot of repetition between us.
