Twinkies natural origin

This is just too unusual to pass up. Twinkies, the snack food many joke could survive a nuclear holocaust, is in the middle of an “all-natural” debate. The reason for the debate is that some of the ingredients for Twinkies are actually mined. That’s right, mined. A Twinkie has minerals included with other mot traditional food ingredients. I’m not sure I want to eat one of these again, and hopefully no one tries to dissect M&M’s.

Emmy Awards

Any one watch the Emmy awards last night? Anyone try blogging the event live? I’m not a big fan of awards shows; the only I really watched was the Oscars, but even my attention for that has waned drastically. Maybe one of these years I will do a blog or twitter during a live event.

I like to fancy myself a musician who plays real instruments, but I also enjoy playing guitar hero for a fun diversion. But after watching what this kids is capable of, I may hang up my plastic guitar.

Blogging world change

I was reading about an interesting article on how blogs and the people behind them can be a positive force for change in this world. The most unique idea Jerry Thor has is to host a fundraiser on your blog. I’m not sure how this would work for someone working from his basement, but I like that idea a lot.

Multiple twitter accounts

I understand why some people have a twitter account, but multiples? What is the benefit/purpose for that? Unless you own a business or two, having multiple Twitter accounts doesn’t seem to make sense. Well, if you happen to fall into that category, you may want to take a look at this program called Seesmic Air.

Small talk your way to a blog post

I’ve foudn that everything in life is connected in such a way that we can utilize it for lessons in other areas. For instance, my wife and I found an entertainment center on sale via Craigslist. We went and picked it up yesterday and started small talking with the guy who had listed it. In the course of our conversation, we found out he works at his family’s business of gravestones and vaults. Of course, me being the joker that I am, I almost asked him if people were dying to do business with him. What’s the lesson here? Engage people, ask questions, get to know them on a superficial level if it will be the only time you’ll really talk to them.

Comment mediation

Does anyone else have this problem/situation pop up? I get quite a few spam comments, as I’m sure you do as well, that are sometimes hard to decipher. Some are easily recoginized as spam when they have nothing but link upon link or if they’re in another language. The harder ones for me are the ones that look like genuine comments with no links, but the comment coupled with the blog post is what causes me to wonder. I start wondering if the person who left the comment is just stupid or if it really is spam.

the ballad of Steven Slater

You knew it was only a matter of time before this JetBlue flight attendant entered the folk lexicon as a hero of salaried employees. I found this particular offering to be simplistic yet very effective in telling the story with a catchy melody.

Blog design

This blog straddles the line between being too busy and engaging. The images are big and colorful but capture almost too much attention. What makes it easier to deal with is that the background image blends easily into the content area. This lends the background to feel more integrated into the overall blog.

This is a great tool for creating and inserting links into blog posts. Firefox has made it easier to take a web page and insert it into your own blog posts. Read some of the details and see how easy it is by reading about it on this page. This is a downloaded add-on, so you will have to do a little downloading and installation.
