Fox news ran a fun little slideshow today on male celebrities and the facial hair they have sported in the past. Specifically beards. The premise is what would these beards say about their appearance and the celebrity to which they are attached. It got me to thinking: what would other accoutrements say about their functions of the stars. What would the polarized sunglasses of Jack Nicholson have to say? What would Leno’s chin say? It makes life more fun to think about these things every once in a while.

Any one remember the TV show Full House? That syrupy sitcom that introduced us to the twin vortex known as the Olsen twins? Fox news did a fantasy recast and their choices are quite interesting. Probably the best casting is Stephen Colbert in the Bob Saget role. This got me to thinking: which show would I recast? Who would be cast? So, I turn it over to you. What TV show would you recast?

Keeping with the last post, I decided to put another Star Wars related post up today.  This comes from Goldentusk, the genius who put together the LOST video I posted last week.  This is one of my favorite videos/songs from this guy.  Enjoy!

If you’re a fan of George Lucas, this will look familiar. It’s the newest addition to the Death Star International Space Station, the observation deck window.  I just think it’s funny that life is imitating art a little bit.  All that’s missing from this image is Emperor Palpatine’s swivel chair.

As the title should suggest, I am a huge Monty Python/dry humor fan. And since this is Friday, I figured I’d give you something funny for today. I stumbled upon this guy while surfing YouTube videos. He goes by the username of Goldentusk and what he does is nothing short of amazing. He takes instrumental theme songs from popular movies and TV shows and adds parody lyrics that describe the premise of the movie or show. Each one is unique and incredibly entertaining. Some of my favorites are his videos for Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Superman. To give you a taste of his creativity, I’m including his latest video for the TV show Lost. I have never watched the show, so I don’t understand the humor, but it seems to be real popular at this point, so I figured you might enjoy it more.

Well, I can’t let this go by without a comment. As you probably know, the Saints captured their first Super Bowl victory last night. Now, in addition to the excellent game, there were some really catchy commercials all designed to entertain and capture your attention for their brand name. I have to say that I think my favorite was the Betty White/Abe Vigoda Snickers commercial. I just love it when older generations of Hollywood receive some recognition and get reintroduced. Here’s the commercial so you can see it for yourself if you missed it.

Ok, I may be biting off more than I can chew, but I am taking some of Matthew Stibbe’s advice and creating a different type of post today.  And with the Super Bowl coming up, I decided to select my top Super Bowl ads.  These top 3 are my own opinion and does not reflect the effect the commercial had.

I don’t post this to lessen the seriousness of computer viruses or the need for good protection.  But, I know a few people who go overboard in terms of sending warnings.  So, I think this parody from “Weird Al” Yankovic is quite humorous.

Who gets paid to come up with this kind of stuff?  I would love to make the money for doing this.  Someone from foxnews.com decided it was time to think about how a remake of Gilligan’s Island would be cast.  There isn’t a remake that I know of in the works; they just decided to do this for fun.  And their casting is inspired to say the least.  For the part of Gilligan, they selected Michael Cera of “Juno” and “Superbad” fame.  That’s inspired casting.  Who they picked for the Skipper is even better.

That’s right, the original James T. Kirk.  Not only is there a physical resemblance, but the idea of Shatner in this kind of a role would be perfect.  I would only take issue with their choice for Ginger.  I think Laura Prepon (Donna from “That 70’s Show”) would be the ideal Ginger if she lets her red hair come back.  That would mean Ginger would no longer be an airhead movie star, but one that is sassy.  I’d pay to watch this movie.

I need help with this one.  I have a friend who is close to getting married.  He’s a physician, so I’m trying to think what a good wedding present is for him.  I heard him mention the other day how he would love one of these new men’s lab coats he saw the other day or a tungsten carbide wedding ring so it will stand out in a crowd. My question: are both of these appropriate for one guy to give another guy or should I just stick with tickets to the next ball game?
