So the strangest thing happend to my husband and I today while we were on our way home from my niece’s birthday party. We were almost home when we pass buy a little 10 year old boy on the side of a very busy highway. He is all alone and crying, and to make matters worse, his little metal scooter is in the middle of the highway! I was terrified that something had happend to him and he had a broken bone or something! It was terrible for me. I am a mother and I have a terrible time with other children when I think that they are hurt! So I cry myself as I tell my husband to turn around! We get there and when I asked him if he was ok he shook his head no. He was not moving at all so I wondered if he hurt his ankle or something. When I asked him what was wrong he said that he was lost and could not get home. I was a little suprised that a young boy of his age would be on a busy highway by himself and now he is telling me that he does not know how to get home. I asked this little boy if he knew his parents phone number and he said no. I want to stess this. It is very important for you to make sure that your children know your phone number. Even if you think that you are the best parents in the world, accidents do happen. With your help the situation could be a lot less horrible for you and your child if he or she gets lost and knows your phone number. An address would make it even better. This was just a bad ordeal all around because now I have a lost scared child who is crying because he cannot get home. I move my 9 1/2 month old’s car seat over and make room for this little boy and we are going to find his home. Then another car pulls over and a man gets out of the car. Just one man…now I am not usually judgemental but I was a little weary of the situation. I know that I should not judge anyone, but when it comes to children I don’t take any chances. My husband and I followed them until the car pulled over and the little boy got out of the car with his scooter. The man also got out and walked up to the door. We pulled away and went home. I called the police station just to let them know what was going on just so that they could go and make sure everything was ok at the little boys home. We had no idea if the little boy had a bad home life or if he was just being disobedient and riding his scooter where he shouldnt be. But again, because there was a child involved, I wanted to send and officer over just to be safe. So I know its random, but his is what happened to me today!

REVENGE

There is a new TV series that just started last Wednesday called Revenge. It is an amazing show and there has only been one episode so far and I am already hooked. My husband even watched it with me last week. He told me that he really likes it but to NEVER tell ANYONE! Ha ha oops! It is about a young woman who sets out to take revenge on people from The Hamptons becaue she believes that they framed her father when she was 6 years old for a terrible crime. It plays at 9 pm on Wednesdays on ABC. Not ABC family but just ABC! So check it out. It will be worth it!

Custom Displays

I’m heading for a weekend seminar nearby that is going to address the state of social media in our immediate area. I live in a small rural community, but the local businesses are trying to get involved with today’s business practices. I’m one of the local experts, so they asked me to come down and be available to talk and answer questions. I’m looking forward to this but at the same time I wish I had a booth to welcome people in. I really wish I had one of those Custom Displays in Southern California you see at larger conventions.

Emmy Awards

Any one watch the Emmy awards last night? Anyone try blogging the event live? I’m not a big fan of awards shows; the only I really watched was the Oscars, but even my attention for that has waned drastically. Maybe one of these years I will do a blog or twitter during a live event.

Blog world expo

I never realized that there was a conference for bloggers. It makes sense, though, most every other field, profession and even hobby has some kind of conference. I don’t think I would be able to attend this since its way out in Las Vegas, but the idea sounds intriguing.

I should have blogged on this last night

Speaking of blogging live events, Sarah Palin was on the “Tonight Show” last night and while the interview/stand-up monologue is not the easiest live event to blog, there was definitely enough there to comment on. Watching the whole segment, she got a couple of good jabs at Leno’s expense during the sit down portion, and her confidence in her actions is noteworthy. The monologue she did as a response Leno inquiring whether she would like to do a talk show someday also had its moments. The material she came out with, whether she wrote it or someone else did, is that typical monologue jokes you hear from Leno all the time. Obviously, with her inexperience at timing and delivery, if she does want to do a talk show, she’ll need to hone those skills a bit.

Another blogging idea…

I’ve seen other people do this, and if I had the patience, I might try it myself. Do a live blog on an upcoming event. This weekend is the Academy Awards; so, if you’re a big fan of movies or Hollywood, blog as you watch the ceremony. Have your computer nearby; when a category has a memorable winner or the production takes a turn for the worse, throw a quick update onto your blog. If given the choice, I would have to blog on the deciding game of the World Series. That would be fun.

If you’re looking to hook readers with something interestin, try blogging during a live event.  Some people blog the Super Bowl ads, others blog award ceremonies, some people even blog competitive eating contests.

If you want readers, pick a live event and blog about what you notice.  Blog about the Academy Awards and mention how great Jack Nicholson looks in his men’s sunglasses. If you like sports, blog during the ESPY awards in the summer.  Sharing your thoughts on a large event like this will capture someone’s attention.
