There’s a new program out called KISSInsights and Daniel Scocco provided a review about it on his blog. It asks any visitors to answer questions concerning the site you are currently on. It looks to me like a pop-up window that, while it does appear in the lower left corner, is still a pop-up. You might get some good feedback, but to me, it just seems that pop-ups are the commercials of the internet.

If you’re looking for a simple and elegant design for your blog, you can’t go wrong with something like this. I find the space to be a nice change of pace from the other blogs that feel the need to fill every inch of available space. Sometimes, there is so much that it seems as if the blog and its content gets lost, but not with this design.

The great thing about blogs is that they can be much more than just an online diary or advice column. The internet’s capability to handle images, movies and other media means that your blog can contain so much more than just text. And with so many blogs competing for readers, you need to take advantage of all the internet has to offer.  Let the internet get its teeth into you.

I love to go see live music.  Whether it’s in a bar, a concert hall, or an outdoor festival, I love watching people make music live.  The problem is is that I can’t always get out of the house.  Sometimes, my favorite band is playing too far away from me, or somebody decides to charge too much for tickets.  I’ve seen some bands have gone to broadcasting their concerts over the internet, and I’m curious:  what do others think of the sound quality of these broadcasts?  I’m not sold yet, but I’d like to hear what others have to say.

I know this seems almost too obvious, but some people need to be told everything.  You feel like you have something worthwhile to say, so you get a blog.  You update constantly, but no one is listening.  What can you do to change that?  Well, one thing that will gain readers quicker is to choose topics that you are not only passionate about, but that also affect others.  Before you post something, ask yourself, “How many other people would have an opinion about this?”  Another point, don’t always use your blog as a soapbox.  Have fun, laugh, post a humorous story you read or experienced.  Use your blog to interact with the world instead of always criticizing it.

Having been a blogger as long as I have, I wanted to see what other people had to say on the subject.  I went looking for tips and tricks from other people to see what they say is good practice and what to avoid.  I found this great post by Bob Bessette, and one of the points he brings up is to avoid getting caught up in the words.  Now, as someone who loves language, I want make every post a masterpiece and that just won’t work according to Mr. Bessette.  What do you think?  When you read blogs, do you take notice of the quality of the writing or do you focus more on the message being conveyed?
