Sports Trading Cards are Great Summer Incentives

As Summer quickly approaches I am preparing for my children to be home for part of the day by themselves. As a way to encourage good behavior I give incentives to the kids. My boys are at that in between age where they are old enough to stay home by themselves for half a day in the summer but they do not have transportation to go and do as they please. I have found that incentives help keep them focused on good behavior. Being very active kids they are sports nuts. From baseball, to football, to hockey, they watch  it all. They have sports trading cards that they collect, as  a way for them to complete their team collections they earn money to buy the cards.

I keep a chore chart at home and when they complete a task a certain wage is given for that task. When they are busy doing their chores they keep out of trouble and there is less fighting. It also teaches them many great life lessons such as responsibility, organization, and accountability. I have scheduled the time from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM as morning chore time. They get a break to watch some TV or play outside until lunch then after lunch they clean up the kitchen. The tasks vary from vacuuming, feeding and watering the dog, walking the dog, dusting, garbage detail, and cleaning the bathrooms.  In the end my husband and I are grateful for the help around the house and the distraction it provides to the kids, this way we take less calls at work that call for refereeing.

The GG Collection is My Favorite!

GG Collection

Since I’m always looking for products that I can add to my home, I was delighted to come across the GG Collection on one of my most recent favorite sites: The Lamp Stand (I’m always on there getting purses, candles, jewelry, and all that fun girl stuff!).

Anyway, I instantly fell in love with the GG Collection (which stands for Gracious Goods, by the way) because of its unique look. They have products for the kitchen, tabletop, bathroom, and even the dogs! I can’t wait to load up on all of these amazing finds. My house is going to look great. :) It goes perfectly with our whole “French Country decor” look.

Custom Exhibit Builders That Are GREAT!

Advertising and marketing is something that really facinates me. This is what my guy does, so he talks to me about the amazing projects that he gets to work on and his job. I love that he shares something with me that is as much of a part of his life as his job and passion, so I’m always willing to listen!

He was talking about these custom exhibit builders that he was working with a lot this past month and he’s super excited to be working with them. Expo-3 is a company that specializes in the custom creation and manufacturing of exhibits for tradeshows and more. They work well with a budget and create amazing pieces. And don’t be turned-off by the fact that they are located in California, it doesn’t mean they just work with local businesses. This is a worldwide company and work with companies all over the place!

A Delicious Dish for Easter: Creamy Chocolate Mousse Pie

I love sweets and for this and other reasons, Easter is one of my favorite holidays! It’s a time for family, fellowship, worship, and of course, sweets! This is a recipe for creamy chocolate mousse pie that’s easy to make and will be a huge hit with the relatives. They are going to love it!

1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows

1 (7 ounce) bar of chocolate candy

1/2 cup milk

2 cups of heavy whipping cream

1 (9 inch) graham pie crust, baked (I buy mine pre-made at the store!)

Heat marshmallows, chocolate candy, and milk into a saucepan until marshmallows and chocolate are melted. Stir constantly…this burns easily! Allow the mixture to cool completely.

Beat heavy cream in a bowl until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the cooled mixture into the heavy cream peaks and pour into the baked pie crust. Refrigerate for about 3 hours, until it sets.

Beautiful Long Prom Dresses

It is Prom season, and I have a nephew that is old enough to go to Prom this year!! Yikes!! That means that I am getting old!! Ha Ha  We are very excited for him and his girlfriend to attend Prom. Just a few months ago I was able to take my daughter and two nieces to watch them at the Grand March in their Winter Formal. It was amazing, the girls all looked beautiful, {ok most of them……maybe some did not have a dad with them when they choose their dress} When it comes to high school Proms, the old saying “less is more” is not such a great idea.yhst-81261434853532_2257_3264140

Stay classy young ladies, showing a lot of skin at Prom is not a great idea. Head to Pacific Plex or shop them online and choose from one of there wide selection of beautiful long prom dresses. I know that when my daughter has the chance to go to Prom that her dad will be right by her side choosing a dress with her. I am almost positive that he will choose a long prom dress too! Don’t forget to make your appointment to get a great Prom hairdo. Below is a picture of my nephew Isaiah and his date/girlfriend Kiersten at her Winter Formal Dance.
