While browsing around on Pinterest the other day, I came across an amazing website. This site is called My Fridge Food and it will amaze you! When you get on the home page, you simply click to checkmark foods that you have in your kitchen. You can also click to use a detailed kitchen which contains a lot more food options.
From your list of foods, it will compile recipes for you to try with the food you already have. This is fantastic because unlike other recipe sites, all the recipes that come up are things you ALREADY have. This is especially good if you are on a budget. It’s great to use up food that you have before going to buy a bunch of new things.
I love trying out new recipes, especially when they are as easy to make as this delicious macaroni salad! Spring is on its way, which means that it’s going to be the season for grilling, eating on the patio, and spending tons of time outside. It’s my favorite time of the year and I can’t wait! I recently went to a Thirty-One party and somebody brought this delicious macaroni salad. It was very popular and everybody loved it! I got the recipe and just have to share!
1 cup of mayonaise
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon of mustard
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 lb macaroni, cooked and drained
1 cup sliced celery
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped red pepper
1/2 cup choppedn onion
Combine all ingredients, mix well and chill.
Winter should be changed to be called “soup season”. I use my crock pot constantly during the week. Last night, I made some delicious taco soup and thank goodness there were leftovers because this was a huge hit!
To make this you will need:
1 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of flour
2 1/2 cups of milk, divided
salt and pepper
1 cup of cheddar cheese (and a little more for topping!)
1 package of taco seasoning
10 oz can of Rotel (undrained)
15 oz can of black beans, rinsed and drained
crushed tortilla chips
How to make it:
1. Brown the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, drain and return to pot.
2. Melt butter in a small saucepan, whisk in flour, and cook for one minute. Slowly whisk in one cup of milk and season with salt and pepper. Use a wooden spoon and stir for 3-4 minutes until the mixture is thickened. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese. (I did step two WHILE I was doing step one, it saved a ton of time).
3. Add the taco seasoning, Rotel, black beans, cheese sauce and remaining milk to the ground beef and stir. Bring to a simmer and stir occasionally. Serve with tortilla chips and remaining shredded cheese.
My birthday is practically my favorite day of the entire year. It’s great to have a day that’s all about ME and I love to celebrate with family and friends. Knowing how much birthdays mean to me, I try to make everybody else’s birthday as special as possible. This is why I have made it a tradition to make everybody birthday cake pancakes in the morning to start the birthday girl or birthday boy’s day out right!
All you need is:
1 cup of Original Bisquik mix
1 cup of yellow cake mix
3 tablespoons of sprinkles
1 cup of milk
1 tsp vanilla
For the glaze:
2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 tsp vanilla
more candy sprinkles!
Heat the griddle or skillet on medium-high (about 375 degrees F). Grease it well with cooking spray so the pancakes don’t stick!
Mix together the pancake ingredients. Pour onto hot griddle with a 1/4 cup measuring cup. Cook until the pancakes are golden brown. Stack on a plate.
Mix together in a small bowl the glaze ingredients and top each serving of pancakes with glaze.
Alright–so let’s face it…no appetizer is really all that healthy for you. This, however, is a MUCH healthier appetizer and is a great imitation of the foods that you have to buy that are full of grease and fat. These are mozzarella bites and I can’t get enough of them!
For this you will need:
6-7 pieces of String Cheese (I use light Crystal Farms)
1/2 cup of milk
1/4 cup bread crumbs (Italian seasoning ones taste great!)
Cut the string cheese into somewhat equal, bite-size pieces.
Dip each piece into milk, and cover it in bread crumbs. Bake in a pre-heated oven (425 degrees) for 8-10 minutes.
Serve with marinara sauce for dipping and enjoy!
