I love trying out new recipes in the summertime. Even though Spring JUST started, I’m already looking for great recipes I can try out this summer for grilling season. I found this recipe online for chicken salad. I can’t wait to try it out this weekend for a get together with our friends! I know they will all love it.
All you need for this is:
- 3/4 lb (2-3 cups) of cooked chicken meat, coarsely chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 4-6 green olives, pitted and minced
- 1/4 cup of chopped red onion
- 1/2 to a whole apple, cored and chopped
- 1/3 head of iceberg head lettuce, sliced and chopped
- 5 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp plum preserves, or any sweet berry preserve (or a lesser amount of honey)
- 2 teaspoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all of the salad ingredients and toss them together in a large bowl. You can then prepare a small bowl of the salad dressing and combine the two.
Is winter over yet? I have spring fever on my radar and seeing even more snow topple on my small Midwestern home is nothing short of depressing. It’s always about this time of the year that I’m craving a vacation and have short term seasonal depression. How does one escape the winter blues? Well I have done it a few ways: sitting in a sunny window, going on vacation, tanning for a short period of time in a tanning bed, or taking in more vitamin D.
this is how I’m feeling!
It’s usually this time of the year that I kick myself for not booking a spring break vacation! Soon my Facebook feed will be filled with vacationers talking about how much fun they are having at their warm destination while I sit at home and slouch about it. I know I sound like the biggest complainer on the planet right now but that is how it feels and I know I’m not alone! I have to say one thing that puts me in the best mood is shopping, especially when the stores have summer clothes, swimsuits and flip flops out! Am I so shallow to admit that? Little pops of color, bright accessories and the new season arrivals seem to cheer me up better than any other method of seasonal depression. One of my latest shopping obsessions is Kameleon Jewelpops because they are so colorful and fun. If you have never heard of them they are cute, fun colored cocktail rings. I’m already dreaming of summer and spring outfits and with the official day of spring only being 29 days away, there is hope!!
Grilling season is just around the corner. When the weather heats up, eating outside will soon become more and more frequent. This is my favorite and I am literally counting down the days until Spring.
When we grill out, I get so sick of buying hot dog buns for the hot dogs and brats and make sure to get hamburger buns for the hamburgers and cheeseburgers. You can imagine my excitement when I came across this awesome product that makes hamburger into a hot dog mold. This makes for more room on the grill AND you are able to make all different kinds of meat on the grill and just have to use hot dog buns. It’s called the hamdogger and I’m definitely getting one.
There are so many “save the date’s” and wedding invites hanging on our fridge that I know wedding season is just around the corner. This is my favorite unofficial “season” of the year. It’s great to get dressed up and spend the evening with family and friends to celebrate the love that two people share. I love the dancing, drinks, and food at weddings. It’s great!
It’s time to stock my closet up to get ready for all these weddings. This means dresses and heels. I don’t ever wear jeans to a wedding, so I will wear a sundress to a casual wedding and a formal dress to a more fancy wedding. There are so many sales going on because it’s Springtime, so get prepared for wedding season and start your shopping! Remember, you can make the same dress look completely different with new heels and new accessories. This saves money from buying a new dress for each wedding.
Now that summer is just around the corner, I’m needing to get my bikini body ready for the beaches! I’m picking out all of these great bikinis online and realizing that I would not want to wear any of them in front of people. I’m not obese or anything, but my body needs a little “tune up” before it is ready for summer.
I found this great workout routine on Women’s Health online. They offer four great workouts–one for each body type. They do this because it’s important to find a routine that caters to your body type. There is not one workout routine that works for all body types. From the page on the link, you choose your body type and you will find the workout that best works for you. They have pear (a bit wider on the bottom than on top), straight (very few curves), curvy (bust and hips are wider than your waist), and athletic (broad shoulders and narrow hips).
